AUNT-SUE NETWORK EVENT

 

The long awaited West End premiere of the AUNT-SUE toolkit and showcasing DVD rounded off the 2010 Symposium. It was screened in the heart of Covent Garden as options on passenger rail transport, notably High Speed 2 and Euston, are being reviewed by government. Although produced and in use since 2008 the studies featured on the DVD, such as those related to Somers Town, demonstrate the potential to engage with new audiences.
 
Cubic insights on a SUE Spectrum
 
The photograph shows network members and symposium participants in the  Cubic Theatre of the London Transport Museum.  Earlier at University College London  work was discussed with AUNT-SUE researchers along with funders EPSRC and partners such as Hertfordshire County Council. The morning and afternoon sessions  had been led by Londonmet's Professor Graeme Evans, AUNT-SUE Principal Investigator (seen here introducing the DVD).  Later Ian Cooper, Eclipse Research Consultants offered closing remarks from across the SUE spectrum.
 
Networking Rail
 
The Cubic Foyer offered networking opportunities and from the Museum staff Ruth Onwordi (Nosa), a Londonmet double alumni, was on hand to help ensure the evening's success. Ruth studied full time for an International Business MA (2005) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resources (2007). Current Londonmet undergraduates also work at the Museum where insights into the transport sector are guaranteed.
 
On 13th January passenger rail operator London Midland, part of Govia, was also using the Museum for a showcase event. With staff drawn from across their network of 149 stations, delivering 1200 services every day and meeting the needs of 46 million passenger journeys each year, there were chances during breaks to mingle informally and compare notes on accessibility issues.
